NEW LOCATION FOR SUMMER 2024 – SOLANA SANTA FE ELEMENTARY!!
Keystone prides itself on our exceptional ability to personally connect with each and every camper, much due to our highly trained and qualified staff. Our leadership team maintains a “hands-on” approach, and is part of daily activities and development of staff members. Three credentialed teachers head this on-site team to ensure a positive camp experience for every child. Meet our Keystone Leadership Team:
Mike Bentz and Larry Klein – Founders/Camp Directors
After 16 years of teaming at Camp Keystone Agoura, Mike Bentz and Larry Klein decided to pack up their camp expertise and paddle it down south to Mike’s beloved Solana Beach community. Mike, with summer camp running through his blood since his days as a Counselor In-Training at the age of 14, earned his Master’s Degree in Literacy from USD and has taught in the Solana Beach School District for 26 years. Keystone South has been a dream of his after directing camp programs in the Los Angeles area, and MB is our daily inspirational leader, hands-on with staff and campers from our morning camp openings all the way to afternoon popsicles and parking lot duties. MB heads our Leadership team and leads our staff Spring Training and Orientation, and is on-site all hours of the day!
Larry, in a quest to return to creativity and his own youthful curiosity, hung up his corporate hat to open the now thriving and reputable Camp Keystone Agoura in 1996. His years of expertise working with children and the camp industry has made this a perfect partnership. Keystone South Summer Camp embodies Mike’s educative and admired flair, and Larry’s progressive industry innovations, making KS North County’s choice summer camp!

Our Staff
A mentor is a compass that points your child’s curiosity in the right direction!
Camp Keystone South employs a top to bottom local staff! Because North County bonds are so mighty, we don’t hire outside the community. Our mentors and counselors are your neighbors, your friend’s daughter home from college for the summer, your son’s favorite school teacher; a homespun staff dedicated to your children, handpicked by those you know and trust. Keystone South provides an intimate and secure stomping ground for emotional, social, physical and cognitive growth, where big hearts shape budding, adventurous, and curious minds!
With years of experience in day camping and childcare, our dedicated staff oversee and mentor your child in every aspect and activity in their day. Lasting positive relationships are built with the communal feel of Keystone South – through encouraging your child to take risks, helping them through physical challenges, and developing new and diverse recreational interests.
Our staff is thoroughly pre-trained through on-site extensive instruction as well as ongoing staff development throughout the summer. Your child’s needs are at the forefront of all trainings, as our staff is capable of making even the most reluctant camper’s day positive. Our key goals are to impart life skills, build confidence and connections, and to understand each child as an individual.
